Troop 5109 assesses an annual fee of $144. This covers your Scout’s membership from February – January. Dues also include a troop t-shirt, “5109” numeral patch, troop neckerchief, merit badge sash and council and national registration fees. The troop usually re-charters in February of each year.
The troop plans several fundraisers during the year. These funds are needed to pay for advancement pins and badges, maintaining troop equipment, camp registration fees, and other needs. It is expected that all Scouts participate in these efforts. Popcorn sales are the primary fundraiser and this takes place in September/October of each year. We also participate in council Camp Card sales in the spring. The troop always welcomes donations of supplies or gear.
Fees are established for each outing to pay for food and other expenses as required. Scouts can also earn money to contribute to our informal ISA, or Individual Scout Account, maintained by the Committee Treasurer.
Certain fund-raisers will be announced as contributing a portion to the ISA. ISA money can be used toward required uniform elements, camp fees and activities. This is a great way to teach Scouts to set goals, manage a budget, “pay their own way,” and contribute to personal growth. The ISA is a courtesy and motivating factor for the Scout, and remains the property of the troop general fund should a Scout decide to leave the Troop. ISA funds cannot be used to offset the annual Troop registration fee.
