Guidelines for Behavior

1 min read

While at scouting functions, we expect that the Scout truly wants to be there. Basic behavior guidelines expected within our troop include:

  • Obey the Scout Law (trustworthy, etc.).
  • Tell a leader before leaving a location (do not wander off).
  • Use the buddy system and obey youth protection policy.
  • Always be respectful of other members and of nature.
  • We do not tolerate bullying – ever – and expect respectful language.
  • Respect the property of others and the sites where we are visiting.

If the Scouts do not follow these guidelines, or are disruptive, action will be taken to correct the situation. Under normal situations, the Patrol Leader or other elected youth leader will issue a warning to misbehaving Scouts. If the activities continue, the Patrol Leader, may seek assistance from the Senior Patrol Leader. Should the misbehavior continue, the Scoutmaster and another adult leader will review the situation with the Scout (thus providing Two-Deep Leadership). This may result in the Scout being prevented from participating in the next troop activity or outing or in the extreme case – a call will be made to the Scout’s parents and they will be asked to pick up their Scout and take her home. If this occurs, a Scout is placed on probation for 3 months. The following must be completed before the Scout is removed from probation.
